This week I’ll be mostly listening to…Wand

Wand – L.A. psych-rock quartet

Wand released their brand new LP “Golem” in March on In the Red Records, the follow up to 2014’s Ganglion Reef. Recorded by Chris Woodhouse (Ty Seagull, The Oh Seas) at The Dock in Sacramento, California the first single from the album was the psych-melted track, “Self Hypnosis in 3 Days“.

NME describe it as being “…full of brain-bending riffs, effects and abstact lyrics.” Check out the full review in NME’s list of hidden gems from March 2015 that may have passed underneath your radar, here.

While The Quietus describe Golem as “spellbindingly insidious.”

“you can definitely catch a whiff of David Bowie, T. Rex, and eyeliner-era Brian Eno wafting through the band’s heavy riffs and stoned melodies.” – Pitchfork. What’s not to like?

Not one to rest on their laurels the band release yet another LP this September, 1000 Days on Drag City.

So go on give them a listen and then book your tickets to, what’s going to be one hell of a gig, at Whelans on Thursday 27 August here.

Support on the night comes from alt rockers Race The Flux.
