We went to Bloom by Bord Bia
We went along to check out Bloom by Bord Bia that takes place from 31 May to 4 June.
Now in its twelfth year, Bloom has grown to not only host the best show gardens in the country but also offers a range of food, demonstrations, and lots of family fun. A trip to Bloom will surpass all your expectations with lots to occupy everyone for hours if not days.
While Bloom obviously has beautiful gardens and lots of plants, don’t be fooled into thinking that’s all there is to see, especially for kids. Bloom has a huge focus on education for the next generation. Get an up close look at how fruit and vegetables are grown, learn about eating healthily and even get a lesson in sheep shearing.
Kids will love the interactive science and technology experiments and demonstrations that can be found across the festival. Learn about conservation, growing things for yourself or just let loose in the playground.
Food is also a huge part of Bloom. Attendees can meet some of Ireland’s top food producers, learn tips from top chefs and sample some of the delicious food too. Award winning chefs can be found giving demonstrations across the weekend at the kitchen stage, including Gary O’Hanlon, Neven Maguire and JP McMahon to name just a few.
There will be different events across the weekend from flower arranging to musical performances, so there is something for everyone and lots of opportunities to relax in the sun too.
The amazing show gardens need to be seen to be believed as photos just don’t do them justice. Each year the standard gets higher and higher, every gardener is immensely talented and truly deserve their place at Bloom. But it’s not just show gardens to be seen, be sure to check out the ‘Postcard Gardens’. While they are smaller features than the show gardens, they are just as spectacular.
Make sure you take a piece of Bloom home with you, whether it’s crafts, plants or just something tasty. If you haven’t already, get your tickets now by clicking here.
