Editors announce a live show at Vicar Street
Editors live at Vicar Street, 2 March 2020.
In continuation of what’s been one of the most prolific creative streaks of their 15 year career, Editors have announced the release of their best of album Black Gold, out October 25th via PIAS. Black Gold will include 13 tracks from their 6 studio albums, alongside 3 brand new offerings: ‘Upside Down’, summer festival anthem ‘Frankenstein’ (watch the supernatural video below) and the gothically dramatic title track ‘Black Gold’ – out now.
“Conversations about a Best Of… had been going on for the past three or four years, but it never felt like the right moment,” admits frontman Tom Smith. “We were always cracking on with a new album.” But singer/guitarist/pianist Smith, Russell Leetch (bass, synths) and Ed Lay (drums, percussion) had made three albums with original guitarist Chris Urbanowicz, and three with newer members Justin Lockey (guitar) and Elliott Williams (guitars, keyboards), “so it felt like a good time to do it.”
Black Gold is a chance to reflect on the past 15 years, but it also offers a glimpse into a very exciting future for one of the UK’s most enduring and perhaps unexpected musical success stories of this century.
Tickets for Editors at Vicar Street on 2 March 2020 go on sale Friday 13 September at 9am.
