TFI Friday returns this Friday for a one off live special

Shaun Ryder, Liam Gallagher, Stone Roses, Roger Daltry plus more to join Chris Evans on Channel 4 this Friday.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Channel 4’s hit 90s show, TFI Friday, Chris Evans will host a live special this Friday, 12 June.

I’m not sure who remembers TFI Friday, but aside from being wildly entertaining, having some of the best live TV performances ever (Manic Street Preachers doing ‘A Design For Life’ is my most memorable) it also courted lots of controversy. Shaun Ryder swore and was subsequently banned from appearing on C4 again! Other popular, regular features included Freak or Unique, Will: Pub Genius and Ugly blokes.

Shaun Ryder’s Channel 4 ban has since been overturned and he will appear along with Mani from the Stone Roses. Liam Gallagher is also set to make an appearance joining The Who’s Roger Daltrey, The Lightning Seeds’s Ian Broudie and Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey. At the request of Chris Evans, the supergroup will perform for this one-off episode, and are said to be covering The Who’s ‘My Generation’.

The yet to be named ‘super’ group will celebrate the TV show’s return alongside Blur, Rudimental and Years & Years. Make sure you’re tuned-in…we will be!
