Around one and a half years after the last Coldplay album “Everyday Life”, the British band are back with new music in spring 2021: The new song “Higher Power” celebrated its world premiere on May 7th and offer the first musical foretaste of Coldplay’s ninth studio album.

In the last few days, Coldplay caused a sensation with posters all over the world and cryptic social media posts: references to the new song and the newly established website made the rumour mill simmer, but the guesswork has now come to an end.

Last week, Coldplay announced the new song on Twitter: “Higher Power is a song that was composed in early 2020 on a small keyboard and a washbasin in the bathroom. It was produced by Max Martin, a true wonder of the universe. It will be out on Friday, May 7th. Love c, g, w & j “

The new Coldplay song premiered at 00.00 BST on Friday morning. In addition, an “extraterrestrial transmission ” was announced. Check out the song and video below.
