Coldplay release new song “Higher Power”
Coldplay are back with new music in 2021: On Friday, May 7th, the brand new song “Higher Power” was released. In the past few weeks, cryptic social media posts and posters have been fuelling rumours of a Coldplay comeback in 2021.
Around one and a half years after the last Coldplay album “Everyday Life”, the British band are back with new music in spring 2021: The new song “Higher Power” celebrated its world premiere on May 7th and offer the first musical foretaste of Coldplay’s ninth studio album.
In the last few days, Coldplay caused a sensation with posters all over the world and cryptic social media posts: references to the new song and the newly established website www.alienradio.fm made the rumour mill simmer, but the guesswork has now come to an end.
Last week, Coldplay announced the new song on Twitter: “Higher Power is a song that was composed in early 2020 on a small keyboard and a washbasin in the bathroom. It was produced by Max Martin, a true wonder of the universe. It will be out on Friday, May 7th. Love c, g, w & j “
Song & video premiere
The new Coldplay song premiered at 00.00 BST on Friday morning. In addition, an “extraterrestrial transmission ” was announced. Check out the song and video below.
Of course, “Higher Power” is also available to stream – you can stream it here . Hopefully there will be more details about the new Coldplay album soon. “Higher Power” will have its European live premiere next week at the BRIT Awards in London, where Coldplay will open the show with the brand new song.
Whether and when a big Coldplay tour for the new album will follow has not yet been determined.
