Theatre & Arts Events Happening in June
We all love the sun but sometimes even when we don't want to admit it, we can all use a bit of time in the shade. Luckily there is still plenty of Theatre & Arts entertainment to be had, all under a nice cool roof.
There’s everything from world famous shows to fun for the wee ones and even some murder afoot happening. Check out the Theatre & Arts events on in June below.
Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular

3Arena, Dublin | 29 May – 6 June
After dazzling Belfast in 2024, the critically acclaimed phenomenon arrives in Dublin for 8 nights only. Cameron Mackintosh adapts Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil’s stage show into an awe-inspiring production that takes full advantage of its arena setting. Les Mis is a powerful show that leans fully into the gradiosity of musical theatre and The Concert Spectacular delivers the same feelings while allowing the iconic music to take centre stage.
Do you hear the people sing? Well the people singing (or “cast” if you run in theatre circles) are lead by celebrated Irish actor Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean alongside Bradley Jaden as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine and Matt Lucas as Thénardier.
If you Dreamed a Dream to see Les Mis like you’ve never seen it before, get yourself down to 3Arena.

Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift

Gaiety Theatre, Dublin | 2 – 6 June
The latest fictional detective to grace the stage at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre, DCI Tom Barnaby investigates a murder in the small and quiet village of Badger’s Drift. The beloved televison series Midsomer Murders is adapted for its stage debut, following the events of the first novel in Caroline Graham’s series.
DCI Tom Barnaby (Daniel Casey), alongside Sergeant Gavin Troy, find themselves caught up in a world of hidden passions, long-buried secrets and deadly rivalries as they uncover the mystery behind Emily Simpson’s death.
Filled with the same charm and wit present in the original tv show, this classic whodunnit will keep audiences on the edge of their seats, while never going so far as to make them fear. Unlike the residents of these small English villages, who should live in permanent fear with the rate these murders are happening.

In The Night Garden…

Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin | 5 – 7 June

The live show is filled with beloved characters from the show, who sing, dance and wave to the audience as Igglepiggle enlists the help of all of his friends to discover the source of a mysterious noise.
Lasting just under an hour, the little ones will be entertained throughout and you’ll be out in enough time to have another adventure with your day or just go home for a nap if you got jealous of Igglepiggle getting to go to bed in the middle of the day!

Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin | 8 – 13 June
The Oscar-winning Australian movie turned musical returns to Dublin this June in a brand new 30th anniversary tour production. The musical comedy follows three friends and their van ‘Priscilla’ as they embark on a journey across Australia to meet drag queen Tick’s, played by Kevin Clifton (Strictly Come Dancing, Chicago) estranged wife and son. Along for the ride are Bernadette, played by Adèle Anderson (Fascinating Aïda) and Felicia/Adam, played by Nick Hayes (Groundhog Day, Remembrance Monday).
Their journey is packed full of 80’s and 90’s pop hits that turn the otherwise daunting trip Down Under into a musical extravaganza, including the likes of ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘It’s Raining Men’, ‘I Will Survive’, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ and many more.

Are Ya Dancin’?

Gaiety Theatre, Dublin | 9 – 13 June
Are Ya Dancin’ or Are Ya Not Dancin’? That is the question. The answer will be a definitive yes for audiences going to this journey back into the showband era. Returning in a bigger and bolder production than its 2024 debut at 3Olympia Theatre, the Irish musical, written by Carol Gleeson and Helen Spring, will whisk you away to the one play you’ve always wanted to be: the ballrooms and backroads of 1960’s Donegal.
Brimming with nostalgia and featuring a 7-piece live band, Tommy O’Neill struggles to bring a bit of rhythm to a changing Ireland as old traditions clash with new freedoms. No spoilers here but how could they not embrace the change when it has bangers like ‘The Hucklebuck’, ‘Rock Around the Clock’, ‘I’m a Believer’, and ‘Hit the Road Jack’.
