There's no need to get dressed up on this occasion! With theatres currently closed we've decided to put together a list of places that you can stream plays, musicals, operas and ballet straight from home.

The world of arts & theatre has come together to give people a much-needed distraction during these testing times, offering a wide range of great content for theatre lovers and admirers of the arts who are missing that on-stage enjoyment. Check out how and where you can view them below.


The National Theatre

The National Theatre will be streaming an assortment of popular live shows for free on their YouTube channel every week. The first selection includes One Man, Two Guvnors, Jane Eyre, Treasure Island and Twelfth Night. You can watch these great shows by visiting here.


Broadway HD

Theatre streaming pioneers Broadway HD are currently offering a free 7 day trial of their services where you will have access to their sizeable selection of theatre favourites from musicals to drama’s and performing arts. You can take in the likes of Cats, Kinky Boots, The Sound Of Music, Swan Lake and Macbeth. You can see how to avail of this service here.


The Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera have come to the rescue for fans of this sacred form of theatre and have kindly decided to stream a different encore presentation from the company’s Live in HD series each night. ‘I And You’ at the Hampstead Theatre

London based Hampstead Theatre will be streaming renowned playwright Lauren Gunderson’s, critically lauded ‘I And You’ starring Game Of Throne’s Maisie Williams making her stage debut and directed by famed theatre director Edward Hall. This award winning production will be available to stream via Instagram until Sunday the 29th of March.

Berlin Philharmoniker

The much distinguished Berlin Philharmoniker are giving free access to their digital library for 30 days, with a colossal 600 orchestral concerts to choose from. Royal Opera House

Music Director of the Royal Opera House, Tony Pappano took to Youtube to announce a programme of free broadcasts and stated that they will streaming an opera or ballet every Friday at 7pm for a month via their Facebook or Youtube channel. Broadway World

Broadway World, a go-to hub for anything to do with theatre, has began a living room concert series starring a multitude of household names, you can check out the performances so far and keep up to date with upcoming performances here.

Bonus: A Quarantined #BroadwayLipSync

A whole brigade of Broadway personnel banded together in the hope of making self isolation a little les(s) misérable(s) for all of us. Lead by Jordan Grubb, the brigade of Broadway’ers put together a lip sync recital of the unmistakable anthem ‘One Day More‘.
