There's no need to get dressed up on this occasion! With theatres currently closed we've decided to put together a list of places that you can stream plays, musicals, operas and ballet straight from home.

The world of arts & theatre has come together to give people a much-needed distraction during these testing times, offering a wide range of great content for theatre lovers and admirers of the arts who are missing that on-stage enjoyment. Check out how and where you can view them below.

Cirque Du Soleil

The largest contemporary circus act in the world Cirque Du Soleil have been releasing a tonne of great entertainment to make up for some of their postponed shows around the globe. There’s hours of spectacular amazement in the form of their 60-minute specials plus you can see what goes on behind the curtain all via their Youtube channel.

Shakespeare’s Globe

The world renowned Shakespeare’s Globe have been supplying endless amounts of content including six plays, shown for free one at a time, on rotation every two weeks, as part of ‘YouTube Premieres’. Check out their Youtube channel to watch some of Shakespeare’s most famous works.

Stars In the House

Seth Rudedskey and James Wesley have been hosting daily live streams with some of theatres biggest stars in aid of the actors fund. London’s Gate Theatre have released some acclaimed productions from the archives to view for free via their website. So far they’ve released footage of Suzy Storck and The Unknown Island which are both available until the 30th of June.

Sadlers Well’s Digital Stage

The world’s number 1 dedicated venue to international dance Sadler’s Wells presents a programme of full-length dance performances and online workshops, to keep you entertained. The filmed dance performances are available to watch live together with an online audience, or on demand for seven days after streaming. You can visit their Digital Stage here.

 

Fleabag for Charity

After the roaring success of her award winning television series Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge decided to take her one woman show to the West end stage which again proved to be a huge success and took the already acclaimed production to new heights. You can stream the ‘Fleabag’ theatre show on Soho Theatre’s on-demand site now with all of the proceeds going to frontline charities.

Andrew Lloyd Webber

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber will be releasing a full-length, smash-hit musical once a week on The Shows Must Go On! Youtube channel. It will be available for 48 hours after it airs, so you can tune in afterwards if you miss it live!

The National Theatre

The National Theatre will be streaming an assortment of popular live shows for free on their YouTube channel every week. The first selection includes One Man, Two Guvnors, Jane Eyre, Treasure Island and Twelfth Night. You can watch these great shows by visiting here.

 

Broadway HD

Theatre streaming pioneers Broadway HD are currently offering a free 7 day trial of their services where you will have access to their sizeable selection of theatre favourites from musicals to drama’s and performing arts. The Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera have come to the rescue for fans of this sacred form of theatre and have kindly decided to stream a different encore presentation from the company’s Live in HD series each night. Berlin Philharmoniker

The much distinguished Berlin Philharmoniker have been live streaming regularly over the past couple of months including some fantastic performances free of charge. Head over to their Digital Concert Hall to see what they have in store next.

The Royal Opera House have spoiled fans with endless amounts of content over the course of the last two months with their #FromOurHouseToYourHouse initiative and now their new series ‘House Music with Antonio Pappano’, a new weekly series from their Music Director.
