Review: Taylor Swift live at 3 Arena, Monday 29 June
Last night I went to the Taylor Swift concert at the 3Arena in Dublin as part of her ‘1989’ album tour. She put on an amazing performance for 13,000 fans and is due to perform again in Dublin tonight. Taylor’s mum and her famous DJ boyfriend Calvin Harris were with her at the show. Vance Joy, one of Taylor’s close friends, played support which started at 7.30p.m. and he received a great response from the crowd.
Each attendee was given a wristband on entry and these glowed in sync throughout the performance. The stage setting, designed as if in the year 1989, included a runway out into the crowd as well as impressive creative sets for each song. Throughout the show Taylor had five outfit changes including a black dress, white sparkly two piece and beige sparkly jumpsuit.
She sang all of the songs from her new album including ‘Blank Space’, ‘Style’, ‘Out of The Woods’, ‘Bad Blood’, ‘All You Had To Do Was Stay’ and ‘I Wish You Would’. She also treated fans to a rendition of the first song she ever released, ‘Love Story’ for which she played the keyboard as she stood on a revolving platform above the stage.
Taylor spoke fondly about her appreciation for her fans throughout the concert, particularly in relation to how she loves talking to fans on her social media accounts on Instagram and Twitter. Videos were played at intervals during the concert which featured some of Taylor’s famous friends including Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Lena Dunham, Lily Aldridge, Cara Delevingne and Jaime King.
She played for over two hours, coming on stage at 8.45p.m. and finishing the show at 10.50p.m. She finished the show with her hit song “Shake It Off” as she came out to the front of the runway dressed in a green tassled two piece accompanied by male dancers in purple suits. The crowd were all on their feet singing and dancing! A lot of fans had made posters and banners to show their support for Taylor. The majority of people in attendance were female and a lot of them were wearing Taylor Swift t-shirts, including myself and my sister! The crowd sang along to all songs during the concert and everyone left the arena in high spirits.
