Bord Gáis Energy Theatre has the most spectacular line-up with over 40 productions programmed for the 2020 season as the theatre celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Next year, as Bord Gáis Energy Theatre celebrates a decade of bringing world-class entertainment to Irish audiences, it will play host to an incredible line-up of blockbuster West End and Broadway musicals, drama, comedy, opera, ballet, incredible concerts, unique special events and much-loved favourites returning by popular demand.
Starting the new year in style, The Sound of Music, one of the greatest musicals of all time, returns for a three-week run this January in a lavish production which will enchant and enthral the young and the young at heart.
Over 2020, a vast array of critically acclaimed West End and Broadway musicals to will grace the stage including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, starring Killian Donnelly, widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history this stellar show will have a five-week run in June. Returning by popular demand after a sell-out run in 2019, Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed production of Boublil and Schőnberg’s legendary musical, Les Misérables plays for three weeks next August.
Back by popular demand incredible musicals Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Blood Brothers, Dirty Dancing, Million Dollar Quartet, The Addams Family, Beautiful: The Carola King Musical, and a brand-new production of the funniest and funkiest musical around, Sister Act, are guaranteed to delight audiences next year.
More show-stopping musicals over 2020 include the Irish premiere of On Your Feet, the inspiring true love story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan featuring all their record-breaking songs and SIX, the sell-out international smash hit musical based on the six wives of Henry VIII arrives for one week only in May.
Inspired by the big screen, Bring it On: The Musical the hit Broadway show based the film of the same name with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda plays in August followed in October by Heathers: The Musical, the award-winning West End show based on the 1988 film and finally My Best Friend’s Wedding takes to the stage in November, to re-create one of the most popular rom-coms of all time. And could we BE more excited to welcome Friends! The Musical Parody, a hilarious production which celebrates and pokes fun at the iconic 90s TV show!
For an unmissable cultural treat Moscow City Ballet return to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in February with a trilogy of Tchaikovsky’s best-loved ballets, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, each brought to life in exquisite performances accompanied by a full orchestra. In April, for the very first time, we will welcome Druid Theatre to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre with their production of The Cherry Orchard, directed by Garry Hynes and starring Derbhle Crotty and other leading members of the Druid Ensemble. And opera fans will delight in two great masterpieces coming in 2020: in March, Irish National Opera, in a co-production with Opera Philadelphia and Seattle Opera, will present one of the most popular and sensually alluring operas, Bizet’s Carmen with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and in November, The Novaya Opera Of Moscow, accompanied by The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, will present Verdi’s La Traviata.
Special events include Quiz, an exciting, fun and interactive thriller, direct from a sell-out run in the West End, In Conversation with the Sopranos, William Shatner Live on Stage (sold out), Sasha Velour: Smoke and Mirrors, comedian Oliver Callan, Grease In Concert, Brendan Cole: Show Man, Blade Runner Live and the live show of the award-winning podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno.
And finally, there are plenty of high notes for music lovers with an outstanding line-up of world-class entertainers: Legendary singer Dionne Warwick, classical superstar Ludovico Einaudi, Jamie Cullum, Leo Sayer, Rebecca Storm, Tommy Fleming, Finbar Wright, Jon Hopkins (sold out) and RTÉ Concert Orchestra will perform The Words and Music of Leonard Cohen with some special musical guests. Finally, adding a unique twist to our musical line up is An Evening with Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour.

Since its establishment in 2010, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre has firmly established itself as Ireland’s best-loved theatre offering the best in home-grown and international entertainment offering everything from ballet, musicals, family shows, drama, concerts, comedy, orchestral and opera shows, many of which would not have been possible to stage in Ireland before.
