Can you introduce yourself?

I’m Chris Higgins. I’m a comedian here for the Paddy Power Comedy Festival.

Who would you most like to be stuck in a lift with?

Who’d I most like to be stuck in a lift with? Hmm…long pause. Oh man, I’m sorry. I’m not being quicker with this…My good pal John Spillane, that’d be nice. We have a good time.

Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with?

Probably the president of my country. I hear he smells.

What was the strangest interaction you’ve had with a celebrity?

I was opening for someone who’s pretty big, and then the venue told them that I was the opener, and they said “for now”, and that was really scary. So maybe the most frightening experience. I did okay; I was allowed to open for the rest of the weekend.

What was the last show you went to?

Oh man, I went to a great punk group out of Wales called Panic Shack in Chicago, and they were freaking great.

What did 12-year-old you imagine you’d be doing now?

I think for a second when I was 12, I wanted to be in like the CIA because I saw a bunch of cool Bourne Identity movies way too quick, way too soon, and took the wrong lessons, but I think 12-year-old me would be happy I pivoted as well.

What’s the worst advice you’ve ever been given?

Be yourself. I think that can be really stupid sometimes. Sometimes you should be someone else.

What’s a skill you’re great at that nobody else knows about?

I’m really good at putting my shoes on without bending over. Can just kind of-I’m good at the wiggle right now. I had a bad lower back thing for a little, so I got really good at putting my shoes on upright. Don’t play rugby, kids!

Who do you often get told you look like?

I get told I look like, and this is insulting to this man, but people tell me I look like Jason Momoa sometimes. I think those people need to leave the small town they grew up in. They tell me that, and I’m like, you need to apologize to Jason right now.

What film have you rewatched most in your life?

The Lord of the Rings, 100%. I watch it two to three times a year, or whenever I’m on a plane, and I can’t pick a movie, I just go to the old tried and true. It’s the best trilogy ever made.

Which is your favourite of the three?

Favourite of the three, honestly, I answer differently every time someone asks me this because they’re all good. But right now, I’d say The Two Towers because some good battles in that one.

If you had to have a song playing every time you walked into a room, what would it be?

Right now, just off the top of my head, I think I would do the ‘Bog Body’ by the Viagra Boys, just because I’ve been listening to it a lot.

Do you have any superstitions?

I tap it twice with my middle finger every time I enter a plane. Don’t know why. Haven’t crashed yet though.

Chris Higgins performs live at The Paddy Power Comedy Festival on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July.. Find tickets and see the full festival line-up HERE.
