Drag queen dance troupe Qween Bitch are special guests of Absolute Bowie at The Academy on 8, 9 & 10 January 2018. Outrageous crazy and extreme lunacy takes centre stage during the celebrations of what will be one of the greatest and most extravagant rock shows to hit an Irish stage.
50 years of David Bowie will commence on his 71st birthday, 8 January – Ziggy Stardust is alive and well and strutting his stuff! John O’Neill of Absolute Bowie absolutely nails this. Definitely not to be missed this very talented London band will take you back in time to the early 70s, to a world of glam rock glitter, when men wore knee high platform boots and bird of paradise hair styles! The powerful and driving rock guitar of Mick Ronson (Chris Buratti) is wicked and you can’t stand still. Albums covered are Space Oddity, The Man who sold the World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Spiders from Mars, Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs.
9 January suits you Sir as David Bowie’s constantly changing image brought him through sharp dressed Gatsby style attire. The music changed too as influences of heavy use of narcotics and Berlin played through Bowie’s career. Absolute Bowie are up to the task and dancing through the late 70s, 80s and 90s Bowie tracks. Albums covered here are include Young Americans through Never Let Me Down.
10 January is a special night of memories and dark imagery. Albums Outside through to Reality are exquisitely and articulately taken on by this incredible band. As an older David Bowie reflects on times past. A decade missed from the music scene and where are we now? The day after emerges as a beckoning to continue from before. Though ill he may be, a message in hand as the Blackstar approaches and he is gone.
At the centre of it all Absolute Bowie!
