Legendary music producer Giorgio Moroder announces his first ever live show for Dublin. Hailed by many as the Godfather of Disco or even the very founder of electronic dance music, Moroder will perform at Dublin’s 3Arena on 8 April 2019.
Dave Chappelle & Jon Stewart’s show at 3Arena next Wednesday will be a phone free gig.
Chris Rock was the first comedian to enforce a phone ban for his 3Arena show last year, and it proved a great success.
Everyone attending the show will have to place their phone in a bespoke Yondr Pouch for the duration of the show.
The pouch allows phone signals to get through, so someone can feel a phone vibrate when a message arrives. Anyone who needs access during a show may leave the room, have the device unlocked and use the phone in the lobby or outside — similar to the way smokers light up outside a non-smoking theatre.
For any touring comedian, the increasing use of cell-phones at their live shows is becoming a major intrusion with the ringing, flashing lights, tweets, selfies etc, affecting the quality of the performance. Some people spend the show posting the clips they record to You Tube rather than enjoying the actual live show they are attending.
This show will be a return to old school entertainment where the great memories of the night will remain in people’s minds and not on a cell phone.
If you don’t want to surrender your phone to a Yondr pouch, then leave it a home, or in the car and rather than seeing it as an inconvenience – see it as liberating and enjoy the moment.
