Ticketmaster Fundraising for Irish Cancer Society
This year, the team at Ticketmaster Ireland pulled together to support the Irish Cancer Society. From quiz nights and raffles to recycling initiatives and a delicious in-office feast, staff, clients, family, and friends joined forces to raise vital funds for cancer research and support services.
The Irish Cancer Society is there for people and families affected by cancer in Ireland. Their free services, including Night Nurses caring for patients at home in their final days, Transport Service offering lifts to hospitals, and Cancer Nurses providing helpful information and advice through their 1800 200 700 Support Line and Daffodil Centres nationwide, are all only possible thanks to donations. So is the vital cancer research they fund, helping to bring forward the day where no-one in Ireland dies from cancer.
For the month of February, twelve volunteers from the Irish team laced up their runners, fired up their fitness trackers, and got moving, walking a virtual challenge from Lake Victoria to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Kicking off on World Cancer Day and competing against colleagues from offices all over the world, team Ireland completed the 1120 mile challenge in an incredible 18 days!
Through an optional donation feature at checkout, Ticketmaster customers have raised significant funds for the Irish Cancer Society over the months of February and March, helping fuel vital support services and groundbreaking cancer research.
To mark Daffodil Day, a fun-filled quiz night for staff, their families, friends, and clients was organised in the Wool Shed Baa & Grill, who generously donated a space for the event. For those for whom trivia isn’t a strong point, the night also featured a raffle with some incredible prizes. A huge thank you to 3Arena, 3Olympia Theatre, Aiken Promotions, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, CWB, GAA, Gaiety Theatre, Leinster Rugby, MCD, Munster Rugby, Singular Artists and TapiTag for their generous donations.
In addition to their fundraising efforts through events, challenges and donations, Ticketmaster staff have also been supporting the Irish Cancer Society in a more sustainable way—by collecting funds through the Re-Turn deposit scheme for the past year.
To round off the fundraising efforts in style, the Ticketmaster Ireland team hosted an in-office Fundraising Feast, turning an ordinary workday into a celebration of the work the team had done over the past few months for such a great cause.
Ticketmaster Ireland MD Keith English said of the fundraising, “The time and energy put into raising these much needed funds for such a worthy cause has been so impressive. What a result! Well done all, you should be very proud!“
The total raised was €42,736, proving even small acts and donations quickly added up and can make a huge collective impact.
