Review: Imagine Dragons at 3Arena, Dublin on Wednesday 18 November

Last night Imagine Dragons brought their Smoke + Mirrors tour to 3Arena, Dublin, with support from Sunset Sons.

The first part of the concert featured an intimate setting, with black and white images of the band projected onto the screens on either side of the stage.

Frontman Dan Reynolds came out to the front of the stage, while the drummer, bassist and guitarist were stationed at the back of the stage. Dan interacted with the crowd and sang some of the slower songs from their newest album ‘Smoke + Mirrors’ including ‘Polaroid’, ‘Dream’, ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ and ‘Hopeless Opus’.

They then changed the tempo to perform ‘Gold’ which featured a spectacular guitar solo from Imagine Dragons guitarist, Wayne Sermon.

For the next part of the performance the stage setting changed to colourful, flashing lights. Dan moved to the back of the stage with the band and performed some of the more upbeat songs from the new album including ‘I’m So Sorry’, ‘Trouble’, ‘Friction’ and popular hits ‘I Bet My Life’ and Roots’.

Much to the delight of the crowd the American band from Las Vegas, Nevada also performed some of their older hits including ‘Radioactive’, ‘Demons’ and ‘On Top Of The World’. The crowd were on their feet singing and dancing as Dan sang songs while wearing the Irish flag.

The crowd was also treated to an impressive solo from Imagine Dragons drummer, Daniel Platzman.

It was a brilliant concert which showed Imagine Dragons’ dedication to producing meaningful music and interacting with their fans!
