Review | Arcade Fire bring their Neon Disco to Dublin

On Wednesday 14 June revellers descended on the Neighborhood of Malahide Castle to see Arcade Fire work their magic. With a new album in the works and new single, Everything Now just released, fans of the Canadian rockers were in for a real treat.

As expected (I’m not going to lie, I did have a sneaky peak at set-list over the last couple of days) they opened with Everything Now, with Win Butler declaring his love for Irish fans! The crowd, understandably, loving him back.

The band then launched into a stream of hits which went down brilliantly with the crowd, everyone jumping and singing along to their hearts content.  The pace slowed somewhat with Windowsill but the momentum picked back up again with Ready To Start and Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels). Afterlife was next, which was dedicated to Prince.

By the time the sun was setting, Malahide Castle had turned into a neon disco with the crowd getting to appreciate the band in their full neon attire, Régine dancing about the stage with neon streamers. They closed the night with Wake Up. It was euphoric, everyone singing along to the tune with full gusto. A magical end to an electric night.
